Can you remember a time when it seemed that God had lost the war with Satan or a time when He had forgotten you? Maybe you were accused of something and had to prove yourself innocent. Maybe you or a family member received a terrifying medical diagnosis. Maybe you simply look around at modern society where sinners are supposed to get equal rights with saints and wonder where God is.
David had a similar situation. The Israelites in Psalm 11 were worried. They were starting to plan to run to the nearest hill forts for protection from their enemies and asked David how he wasn’t panicking. David simply said “The Lord is in his holy temple.” (Psalm 11:4 EHV)
God hasn’t been overthrown. He’s watching us all, everything going on and waiting for the perfect moment. The righteous will be brought into our King’s presence eternally, but the wicked will be punished.
