Evil Doers Trap Themselves

    Psalm 7 talks about God's judgement in some pretty powerful terms.  David had been accused of something, probably a crime or lie by a follower of King Saul, whom David took the thrown from when Saul disobeyed God.  David again asks for justice, but he also asks God to prove him innocent.  David knew that God was the only one who could see into a person's heart to see lies or truth so only God could prove David innocent.

   Verse 12 and 13 go into detail of God readying His weapons against the wicked (including flaming arrows, which I love the imagery of).  Verses 14 through 16 are my favorite from this psalm, tho.  Karma is not considered a Christian idea, but it is sort of talked about in Psalms and Proverbs.  Instead of the universe bringing back what vibes bad people put into the world, the Bible says that evil doers will cause their own destruction.  Listen to this translation from the 1984 version of the NIV:

"He who is pregnant with evil

and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment.

He who digs a hole and scoops it out

falls into the pit he has made.

The trouble he causes recoils on himself;

his violence comes down on his own head."

   It's similar to Jesus saying that whoever lives by the sword will die by it.  The life we create has consequences.  If we decide to cause trouble for other people, than other people will cause trouble for us in revenge or simply because that is the type of people we surround ourselves with.  If we decide to follow Jesus and try to live by His guidelines, then we have to give up a lot that modern people consider fun and possibly get teased for it.  Life is about choices.  Can you live with the consequences of your choices?
